Adidas Originals throw 60th Birthday House Party

Adidas is turning 60 in 2009, so to celebrate they’re releasing a massive campaign to show just how cool and original they are. This is the first spot, created by Sid Lee of Montréal, that makes us wish we could throw mad house parties and wear 3 stripes exclusively for the rest of our lives… or that’s how it makes me feel. They’ve even invited all the big names who they say helped make their brand what it is today. “It’s the house party to end all house partys — and you’re invited.”

Victoria’s Secret’s angels have descended upon Miami Beach. Singer Usher kicked off the Victoria’s Secret show Saturday, which featured 35 supermodels, some wearing angel wings. Models including Heidi Klum and Adriana Lima strutted down the runway at the newly renovated Fontainebleau Miami Beach during the show, which coincided with the opulent reopening of the hotel.

“The theme of the show is a return to glamour,” said company CEO Sharen Turney. “Victoria’s Secret is about sexy and the new sexy is glamorous for this season.”

The catwalk glittered and two silver palm trees adorned the stage. Models showed 68 outfits, including the $5 million Black Diamond Fantasy Miracle Bra worn by Lima and designed by jeweler Martin Katz. It is decorated with white and black diamonds and rubies, and will be for sale in the company’s catalog, Katz said.

new designs by Mark Cheung ,Chinese fashion icon

Mark Cheung is a Chinese fashion icon. Known as a bit of a hermit, he stays out of the limelight, shying away from publicity.

His designs draw from his own culture and his annual fashion show is seen as the most important event in Chinese fashion circles. He is the vice-chairman of the China Association of Fashion Design and chairman of the China Fashion Committee of Asia Fashion Union.

All of Cheung’s collections are known for their rich palette, which includes pure whites, darker tones of brown and jade, bright red and the shining yellow of the imperial Forbidden City. Cheung’s fascination with ancient building styles can be seen in the lavish use of symmetry, bias cutting, pleating, carving lace-trimming, sequining and beading. These techniques have enabled Cheung to fuse traditional culture with cutting-edge fashion

The Obamas’ Modest Style Budget

In this video clip back from early July, Michelle Obama talks about wearing $30 dresses from the Gap and shopping at H&M. I would love to see a special Presidential version of The Look for Less. In fact, I would love to see any special episode of that show, seeing as that I think it got taken off the Style channel ages ago.

Color rules on Paris catwalks

Paris designers whipped up a rainbow burst of colors on Wednesday as an antidote to the economic blues plaguing the luxury industry.

“Everyone wants to play in color this season,” said Ken Downing, senior vice president and fashion director for luxury retailer Neiman Marcus.

French designer Sonia Rykiel celebrated her 40 years in business by sending dozens of models twirling down the catwalk in brightly colored silks. Christian Lacroix let loose with a riot of clashing patterns, while Esteban Cortazar went tropical at Emanuel Ungaro.
